Monitor Calibration for Digital Imagery Editing

Working with digital images requires an exact control of tones, specially in color. The color variation in different types of monitors, scanners and printers may be very large. A color image can have some tonal values that don't correspond with those on the screen or obtained with the printer. The scanner can produce noticeable color variation regarding the original. The first thing we have to do to obtain satisfactory

results is calibrating all the devises in our system. Calibration is made with color profiles that let us achieve a constancy in the color independently of the used devises. The first step is an adequate monitor calibration with Photoshop opening the Help > Color management submenu from the main menu and following the instructions step by step. With it we create a color profile of our monitor that allows the image's aspect to be the same as with another monitor.
